I have spent my entire life obsessed with games. From 8-bit Nintendo to Red Box D&D, I’ve relished every moment of game time since my childhood in the 80’s. Along the way, I got married, started a family, and became a lawyer. Despite this, the dream of working with games never really died.
My love of games led me to found Nerds and Scoundrels. After writing about video games and Dungeons and Dragons for years, I graduated to designing for the game in 2020. Our publishing wing – Scoundrel Game Labs – has since ran several successful Kickstarter campaigns including for our most popular book, Grizelda’s Guide to Ghost Hunting.
Today, you can find his published works across the internet, including at Barnes and Noble or Amazon. Despite this growing career as a TTRPG publisher, I still love to to write in-depth D&D blogs and analysis here at N&S.
Background
I was raised in rural Northeast Arkansas before heading to college at the University of Arkansas. After earning a J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law, I spent ten years practicing law before putting down the suit and tie for good. These days, I run Nerds and Scoundrels while designing games for our publishing company, Scoundrel Game labs.
Scoundrel Game Labs
In 2020, Scoundrel Game Labs was born out of the sudden free time I found myself with due to the pandemic. Our earliest releases, found on the DMs Guild, exclusively focused on the worlds created by Wizards of the Coast. The most popular among these was the Theros Campaign Handbook.
In 2021, I stepped outside of the confines of the DMs Guild in order to launch my first project on Kickstarter. Since then, I have raised nearly $400,000 on the platform in order to fund projects like Fey Encounters or Grizelda’s Cursed Curiosities.
In September of 2023, Scoundrel Game Labs branched out into the board game space in a big way. We purchased the intellectual property and assets of Grimlord Games, the makers of popular board games like Village Attacks and The Everrain.
In The Media
Most of my writing about games can be found at Nerds and Scoundrels. However, my work with Scoundrel Game Labs can be found all across the internet, including this interview with Geek Native. You can also find me on Twitter, working on my next Kickstarter campaign, or check out his profile on RPGGeek.
