Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Kineticist Class Guide
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is the newest release from developer Owlcat Games. As you progress through the game and continue to build out your party, you’ll come across tons of awesome and powerful abilities to make use of. You’ll also have to make the tough choice of deciding the class that you’ll be using throughout the game. So we’ve put together a quick guide for Animal Companion, so you know exactly how it works.
What is a Kineticist?
Kineticist is a class that you can choose right at the beginning of the game when you create your character. They’re a class that channels elemental matter and energy into powerful abilities. They aren’t considered to be Mages or Sorcerers really, but their powers do stem from magic of some kind. Because of this, their class skills are: Mobility, Persuasion, Stealth, Use Magic Device and Perception. These are skills that focus on stealth and deceit, rather than anything that leans toward magic.
Kineticists have no Alignment Requirement which makes it a great fit for those who aren’t sure what they want their character to be yet. Their class features include abilities such as: Burn, Kinetic Blast, Elemental Focus and Infusion. Kineticists are also proficient with all simple weapons but aren’t proficient with any armour or shields. Burn is a Feature that is particularly important to Kineticists as it temporarily boosts the effectiveness of your abilities. Though this is at the cost of your health as every time you use Burn, HP equal to your level will be non-lethally taken away.
Many of this class’s Archetypes focus on different aspects of elemental power or abilities that target people’s emotions. Elemental Engine, for example, is an Archetype that fully focuses on using elemental abilities to full effect. A perfect fit for those that like to use the elements to target enemies’ weaknesses. A cool Archetype that the Kineticist can also make use of is the Blood Kineticist. A Subclass that utilises lots of different abilities that make use of blood as a weapon. A good fit for a character that may have an evil alignment of some kind.
Should you play as a Kineticist?
Kineticist is a great fit for those that like to study the weaknesses of their enemies and use them against their enemies to full effect. It also allows your character to have a connection to the world that not many other people have. Its skills that utilise Stealth and Persuasion are other great additions for those that prefer to do little fighting. Instead, opting to talk their way out of a situation or sneak past the enemy. If any of these aspects sound cool to you, then the Kineticist should be a great fit. For those that want to have a more active role in combat, or experience a more traditional magic-based class, you may want to look elsewhere.
