Draconic Transformation is a spell for players who want to get a taste of what it’s like being part-dragon. With a roar, you draw on the magic of dragons to transform yourself, taking on draconic features. You gain the following benefits until the spell ends:

•  Blindsight. You have blindsight with a range of 30 feet. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn’t behind total cover, even if you’re blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature, unless the creature successfully hides from you.
•  Breath Weapon. When you cast this spell, and as a bonus action on subsequent turns for the duration, you can exhale shimmering energy in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d8 force damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
•  Wings. Incorporeal wings sprout from your back, giving you a flying speed of 60 feet.

 Spell Breakdown

So this is a spell that adds some cool dragon-related abilities that you can make use of in combat. Draconic Transformation is a 7th-level Transmutation spell for higher-level players. It’s cast during a bonus action and has a duration of up to 1 minute.

The first thing to point out here is that none of the abilities that you gain with this spell are necessarily amazing. While Breath Weapon is a spell that does quite a bit of damage, the other abilities that you get to use aren’t going to radically change how you play. Blindsight for example, is a very situational ability that may not be too useful for the most part. Using Wings however does grant you a lot more freedom in how you can traverse the battlefield. Giving you a flying speed of 60 feet and allowing you to reach places you simply couldn’t before.

This is the kind of spell that’s going to appeal to players that like the idea of turning into a draconic figure. If you’re someone who just finds that concept cool then this is obviously going to appeal to you. But in terms of the gameplay benefits that you gain from using it, they’re a little harder to recommend. Especially if you’re a spellcaster that already has some pretty high-damage magic. But this is still a really cool spell and one that you can have a lot of fun with if you’re a creative player.
