If there was one weapon that had caught the eye of Assassin’s Creed fans in the lead up to Odyssey, it was the flaming freakin’ hammer known as the Mallet of Everlasting Flame. Reminiscent of Sauron’s mace from Lord of the Rings, this beast of a weapon is considered by some as the best weapon in Odyssey. In fact, the director of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey selected the Mallet of Everlasting Flame as the coolest weapon in the game. Where to find the Mallet of Everlasting Flame Location
Unlike with many legendary items, there isn’t a specific quest you need complete or castle you need to storm. To unlock the Mallet of Everlasting Flame, you’ll have to defeat a mercenary. The mercenary’s first name is always different, but it will always be followed by “the smoldering.” So far we have seen names like Tanis, to Alexia, to Philomena the Smoldering. It doesn’t make any difference. The important thing to know is that you will only be able to find this mercenary once you hit level 46. Once you have done that, you can start asking around until you find her on the map. Just like with any mercenary, you can watch the map for the red helmet to figure out if she’s close.
How to Unlock Mallet of Everlasting Flame in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Obtaining the Mallet of Everlasting Flame is as simple as killing the mercenary and looting the mallet. If you are the appropriate level, defeating the mercenary isn’t overwhelming. The battle will typically start with the mercenary rushing you; you’ll want to dodge that. She is easy to stun, so you can overwhelm he with damage fairly quickly. Be aware that she is armed with explosives that deal area of effect damage. That’s right, ancient Greece grenades. She usually has minions around but nothing you can’t hack your way through. The Mallet of Everlasting Flame – Stats, Abilities, and Engravings
This is one of our favorite weapons in the entire game. The fire damage is fantastic, and it scales well with other buffs you can get to burning rate and damage. If you are interested in a flame damage based build or just like to smash your way through things, this is probably the weapon for you. Altogether, the bonuses for the Mallet of Everlasting Flame are legit:
- +15% Warrior Damage
- +20% Fire Damage
- Weapon Damage Becomes Fire Damage
- +1 Adrenaline Cost for Overpower Abilities
When it comes to abilities, the best one to incorporate with the Mallet of Everlasting Flame is Fire Mastery. Fire mastery gives you a solid boost in burning damage which scales well with other buffs. If you’re looking to go all in on a burning build don’t forget Agamemnon’s armor set as it gives you a 50% bonus to burn rate. That increased damage tick effectively doubles your damage!
