How to find the Control Rod in Remnant: From the Ashes.

Prepare for a boss battle as you enter an area called Stalker’s Den in Rohm. There, you’ll run into the Houndmaster sitting by a fire. He’ll ask you to sit, and threaten you with death, claiming his pack kills on sight without exceptions. Luckily, you don’t have to listen to everything he says. Simply start firing to break his “horn”. Be sure you kill him, because Maul and waves of Howlers will start attacking. One of the easiest ways to handle so many enemies at once is to take out a few Howlers, then attack Maul, until he summons more. Repeat that cycle and the battle should be fairly simple.

Take down Maul to claim your prize: the Control Rod. And a bonus item: a Hound Choker. Once you have it bring it to the broken down Vyr automaton, half covered in sand, outside of Wud’s shop in Rohm. Use the Control Rod on the automaton to bring it to life. Once it activates, it becomes the Ancient Construct. Kill it to get the Ancient Core, which is one of the two crafting materials needed for the Iron Sentinel mod.

To complete the mod, you will also need five Lumenite Crystals, but it’s worth it. Then, speak with Rigs or McCabe to craft it. The Iron Sentinel is an excellent mod, which summons a fully automatic turret. The turret fires 5 rounds a second and deals 3 damage per hit, and the whole thing lasts for 20 seconds. You can reactivate the tower once you replenish the gauge by shooting and killing enemies with the weapon that is slotted with the mod.
