How to Unlock the Dark Zone in The Division 2

The Dark Zone is intended to be the most challenging aspect of The Division 2. Unfortunately, you can’t play it right away. There are a few steps you’ll need to take to unlock it, which we’ll cover here. Once you unlock the Dark Zone, PvP will be enabled for you.

The Dark Zone is broken up into three distinct parts:

  • Darkzone East
  • Darkzone South
  • Darkzone West

While all three zones have different missions and landmarks, they all have the same entry requirements. Additionally, you must unlock all three separately.

Where to start?

Unlocking the Dark Zone requires that you play through some portions of the main storyline, so dig in. The key to unlocking the Dark Zone is recruiting Senait Ezera. You will be somewhere at or near level 10 when this is possible. To recruit Senait Ezera, head to the Settlement Progress Desk in The Theater Settlement. You will need to get The Theater Settlement to level 3; once you have met the requirements you will have the option to recruit Senait.

When Senait joins your staff, you can visit her at the Whitehouse. She will tell you all about the Dark Zone and also task you with missions exploring the zones. The first mission will be to check out the East Dark Zone on the far right side of the map. Once you complete the missions to explore these zones, you will have access to them for your PVP purposes.
