Arma 3 Best Tank | Best Cannons, Best New Player Tank

The world of Arma 3 is filled to the brim with ways to decimate your opponents. One of the most entertaining ways to tear through the front lines is with tanks. These armored beasts are designed both for troop-carrying and to offer an armored position where you get to destroy your opponents. As long as your enemies don’t see you coming, and you’re able to destroy threats to you quickly, you’ll be laughing your way through maps. If you’re looking for the Arma 3 Best Tank Guide, this guide will inform your decision!

Arma 3 Best Tank

Before the Tank DLC, the best tank was most likely the MBT-52 Kuma. This goliath had insane armor, decent firepower on their Main gun (though not as much as the T-100 Varsuk), great Co-Axials, Commander Seat firepower, thermals, and armor. This is the fastest tank the game has to offer, though without great acceleration, and with rather poor suspension. This tank was designed with vehicle combat in mind, and is a great choice for any gunner without the DLC.

So, did the DLC add anything to counter the MBT-52 Kuma? The Angara line offers slightly worse mobility and arguably worse armor, but with better firepower. I don’t believe this line overthrows the Kuma’s rule, but it does offer more damage potential with their side-guns and main cannon. The main reason we believe it to be worse than the Kuma is due to its poor crew positioning and slightly slower movement speed at max ramp-up.

That leaves the light tank, the AWC Nyx, which I believe is the best tank the game has to offer right now. As a light tank, you’re going to die much, much faster than in the Kuma or Angara lines. However, the sheer utility that this little fella has is crazy. It’s damage potential is actually similar to the other tanks, especially if given Anti-Tank or Anti-Air variants. You can even have it be a recon weapon, because it is so fast. This is, by far, the most versatile tank that Arma 3 has to offer!

So, what tank should you focus on? Well, it depends a lot. The Kuma is extremely durable, not slow at all, and has devastating cannons and guns. It is the perfect all-rounder tank, though it is not able to pick up passengers. If you’re new to the game, or new to tank warfare in the game, the MBT-52 Kuma is still the best tank that the game has to offer.

However, the AWC Nyx is extremely stylish, and has a ton of options for your team. You can be a scout, destroy troublesome aircraft, become a skirmishing tank-buster, or even be good against infantry. It’s lack of armor is a gigantic downside, and should be respected accordingly. If you’re new to the game’s controls or tank warfare in general, this will be a hard choice for you. However, as you get better, the Nyx’s guns and versatility will probably be a bit more useful than the Kuma’s all-round usefulness.
