The Wild Age Review
If you are familiar with Nerds and Scoundrels at all, you know we’re fans of Kingdom as well as Kingdom Two Crowns. But if you’re looking for a spiritual successor to Kingdom, The Wild Age will give you those 2d feels in wonderful 3d graphics. Stick around as we run down this new offering from McMagic Productions.
The Wild Age Review
In The Wild Age, you step into the shoes of the new ruler. Your charge: build a sprawling new settlement that spans a series of islands. You can’t build a society by yourself, though. That’s where your villagers come in. Hire them to help build each island and fortify your settlements.
And you’re going to need those settlements, trust me. When night falls, enemy goblins attack your settlements and test your defenses. If you aren’t careful in building up your defenses, you can lose days worth of work as the goblins destroy what you have built. You’ll rely on your subjects to gather resources, carry out your building plans, and defend your walls from the bad guys.
You’ll have more help than just your settlers, though. There are a variety of unique mounts that you can ride. There are also a series of pets that not only follow you but perform important tasks on your behalf.
Verdict
Another great aspect of the game is the attention to detail that the developers continue to apply. Patches drop most days, and the developers have listened carefully to their players and addressed the few major early bugs that popped up after release.
While The Wild Age isn’t shy about the inspiration it draws from Kingdom, it is very much its own game. This isn’t just a generic tower defense; The Wild Age has a lot of thoughtful, fun elements that make this game stand out in a crowded space.
