To begin the quest, head to Kyrdonia in Little Egypt, Messara. There, a civilian will call out to you for help. The civilian’s problem has to do with taxes. A recent tax increase has led to conflict between merchants and the city guards. The merchants refuse to pay a higher rate, and guards are happy to beat it out of them. The captain of the guard, Diokles, is essentially a bandit that shakes down the merchants to line his own pockets. That’s where you come in.

The civilian wants you to help get things back to the way it used to be by quelling areas of tension around Kyrdonia. He points you to three locations that have been problematic: the agora, the eastern market, and the docks. When pressed, the civilian agrees that this issue can be solved with a sword. But he also cautions you that at times talking it out can be the best of all the options available.

The Agora

At the first scene of unrest, you will encounter a man who has cornered a woman and a small child. The man tells you that this is the family of the one of the guards who has been harassing the merchants. The man and his friends are ready for some mob justice. You can plead to talk this out with the man or demand that he stop. Trying to talk it out will result in the mob leaving, but not before the put a price on your head. If you show them your blade you will have to fight them off to complete the first part of the quest.

The Eastern Market

The second stop is at the Eastern Market, where two guards are hassling a merchant. You are given a choice: get involved on the merchant’s behalf or side with the guards. Siding with the guards requires you to trash the merchant’s merchandise. However, siding with the merchant means you have to kill both guards to continue.

The Docks

The final location is the docks. When you arrive, you will discover a fight is brewing between a group of guards and a group of civilians. If you side the civilians, you will need to kill all the guards. Once you are done, return to the civilian textile merchant.

Find the Textile Merchant

When you return to the civilian’s shop, he is gone. In his place is a handwritten note from Captain Diokles. His note claims he stole your precious gems and challenges you to a fight at the Eastern Bazaar. When you arrive at the Bazaar, Diokles and 4 soldiers are waiting for you. Kill Diokles and the mission will complete. Be sure to loot him as he is holding the gems the merchant promised you. I wonder whatever happened to that guy, anyway?
